Safety
Heat varies. Always test before use.
The Hug can become hot enough to cause burns if overheated.
• Heat gradually and cautiously in short increments
• Always test the temperature on your skin before wearing
• Use with The Hug Cover only — never directly on skin
• Do not strap tightly against bare skin, as this can intensify heat
Some people may be more sensitive to heat, while others may tolerate higher temperatures - both can increase the risk of burns if not carefully monitored. It is recommended to use for 20 minutes at a time.
• Do not use on broken or irritated skin
• Discontinue use if discomfort or irritation occurs
• Regularly inspect for damage or leaks — do not use if damaged
• Children must be supervised at all times
Cold Application
• Freeze flat for at least 2 hours
• Always use with The Hug Cover - not directly on skin
• Apply for no more than 20 minutes at a time
• Allow 45–60 minutes between applications
Store in the freezer when not in use for cold therapy.
Hot Application
Hot Water Method
• Bring water to boil in a pot, then remove from heat before placing The Hug in
• Avoid heating in actively boiling water
• Holding the straps, carefully submerge the gel pack into the hot water for up to 10 minutes - keeping the straps dry. Use pegs to secure the straps to the rim of the pot.
Remove carefully, dry with a towel, and let it sit for 2 minutes before inserting into The Hug Cover.
Before applying:
Insert into The Hug Cover and test on your skin first.
Ensure it feels comfortably warm — not hot.
Microwave Method
Microwave power varies, below heating times based on average strength. Test your microwave strength before use. Heat cautiously and gradually to avoid burns or bursting the gel pack.
• Lay flat with gel evenly distributed
• Ensure the gel pack can rotate freely without touching the sides of the microwave
From room temperature:
• Heat for up to 30 seconds, then let stand for 30 seconds
• Heat will continue to build after removal
From frozen:
• Heat for up to 45 seconds, then let stand for 45 seconds
If further heating is needed:
• Turn over and heat in 10–20 second increments only
• Check and gently massage gel between each increment
If the gel pack bulges, stop heating immediately.
Before applying:
Insert into The Hug Cover and test on your skin first.
Do not apply if it feels too hot.
